 A Dirty Day
I don’t know why getting dirty
to a child is so much fun,
Is it because there’s not certain way to do it
no rules for how it’s done?
That’s why every so often
they need to be set free.
To get as dirty as possible
as dirty as they want to be.
Just strap on some worn out clothes
disposable is a better name,
For after the day that dirt does rule
the clothes you can never reclaim.
Give them plenty of water
to make a nice mud hole,
You know the kind in which
pigs like to roll.
Whatever is safe
give it with a smile,
I promise you’ll be a hero
at least for a little while.
Don’t let the enormous mess
get the better of you,
Keep a stiff upper lip
it’s something the kids need to do.
